The Department of Economics had started its maiden journey with the inception of the academic session of the college since December, 2020. The Department aims to provide responsible human resources toward the country who can act as a nation builder. The Undergraduate programmes emphasize the comprehension of economic thinking, the application of communication and analytical skills, and the understanding of cultural diversity. Teaching and learning in the department is oriented in such a manner that the students can relate well to their surrounding socio-economic life. Besides conventional lectures, teachers engage the students in group discussions, assignments, presentations, tutorials, project work for the overall academic as well interactive and soft skill development of students.In this short period of time, many of the students of this department have revealed amazing potential in terms of artistic expressions, sports, social activism etc. The Department is led by of a young and dynamic team of faculty members with diverse areas of interests/specialisation.

National Mathematics Day Celebration 2022
Organised by Department of Mathematics and Economics in Collaboration with IQAC, BRMGMC, Doomdooma.

The Department of Economics in collaboration with IQAC celebrated national Mathematics Day, 2022 which has initiated by Department of Mathematics on 22/12/2021 at college premise. Dr. Pronita Neog, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese has chaired the session. Dr. Pranjal Talukdar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics has given the welcome address. After that the chief guest Dr. Jibon Changmai, retired vice-principal and HoD, Department of Mathematics, Digboi College has felicited by the college family. Dr. Talukdar has initially started the program by giving insight on importance of Mathematics. Dr. Changmai has enlightened the students with his resourceful discussion regarding mathematics and day to day life. He has also talk about the Mathematics genius Ramanujan. After Mr. Biman Dutta, assistant Professor, Department of Economics has shared his thought about importance of Mathematics in economics. Some students and teacher of the college has also given their opinion about the theme of the day. Finally vote of thanks has been given by the Ms. Simismita Borah, Assistant professor, Department of Economics and a quiz competition among the students of BRMGMC has been started after the meeting.
A Discussion on Union Budget

A discussion is organized at the college premises by the Department of Economics, in collaboration with IQAC, BRMGMC on…./02/2022. The program is being presided by principal of the college Dr. Amorjit Saikia and participated by students of different departments as well as faculty members of the college. Dr. Sailkia briefed about the concept of the budget. Assistant professor of the department of economics, Mr. Biman Dutta has started the discussion the by emphasizing on agriculture sector of the economy and its aspects on union budget 2022. Moreover he has mention about the prospective growth of the sector in proper execution budget. Ms. Simismita Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, has insightfully explained the educational expects of the Budget, while Aktar Hosain, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, emphasized on the infrastructural distribution of budget and the pros and also the construction of proposed IPO and LICI. After the discussion made by the faculty members of the departments, an interaction has happened among teachers. Mr. Akhyai Jyoti Mahanta, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology has raised important question about economics survey. At last vote of thanks has been given by Ms. Simismita Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.
Inauguration of Bridge Class of Elementary mathematics

The Inauguration ceremony of Bridge Class of Elementary Mathematics has organized by the Department of Economics in collaboration with IQAC, BRMGMC, Doomdooma on 14/03/2022 at the departmental class room. The course will be run by the Department of Economics and Dr. Pranjal Talukdar has entrusted with the responsibility to undertake the class from 15/03/2022. Dr. Amorjit Saikia, principal of the college has inaugurated the class by handing over the formal letter to Dr. Talukdar. Both of them are felicited by the students of Departments of Economics. Dr. Saikia has also motivated the students with his inspirig speech. Dipu Sarmah and Akhyai Jyoti Mahanta, faculty members of the college also gave their opinion about the program. The program has been hoisted by Biman Dutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics. Finally vote of thanks is given by Aktar Hussain, Assistant Professor Department of Economics, BRMGMC.
Invitation for Series of Lecture by Department of Education

The Department of Education and the Department of Economics have made an Academic Collaboration to initiate the classes Economics of Education, Generic Elective Course of Education Department for the benefit of Honours students of B.A. Fourth semester on 18/05/2022.It is an initiative towards promoting holistic and multidisciplinary education under NEP 2020.Faculties of Economics department are taking a part of the syllabus of the assigned course and took classes
three days in a week.
